We have finally completed producing our CD, called “Classix Vol 1” which features some very talented singers. The CD comprises a fusion of classical and hip hop music.
In an attempt to communicate with the youth of today, Joburg Promusica has launched a completely new project, focusing on the production of socially conscious music, in a genre that is accessible to the general public.

We are, however, a theatre with a difference. From extensive research, we know that there is a significant benefit in using the arts as a medium for addressing issues of vulnerability, social exclusion and the feeling of destitute in our youth. We have therefore, decided to position ourselves as a resource to the community through our commitment to the development and promotion of artistic talent in the less developed communities of our city, with particular emphasis on Soweto.

One of our most recent and most exciting projects is currently completed – i.e. the production of a CD with contemporary socially conscious work, providing a fusion between classical music and street/hip-hop music. Overall, the CD is a mechanism that can make a difference in terms of the types of messages our society gets exposed to, presented in a format that is accessible to most modern listeners, and indeed bridging the divides between different cultures.
