An Opera Gala

The programme will consist of famous opera choruses as well as some not so famous and some never before performed in South Africa.

The Choir will share the stage with soloists from the Tshwane University of Technology Vocal Arts Department. It has become a goal of the Choir to provide these young and upcoming soloists with a chance to perform in concerts presented by Pro Cantare. The Choir and soloists will be accompanied by full orchestral backing tracks and conducted by Choir Master Hans van Heerden.

More about the Pro Cantare Choir:

The Pro Cantare Choir provides a platform for individuals who enjoy performing a variety of genres and uses the West Rand as its base.  The Choir provides a home to singers who love the camaraderie of performing beautiful music together and most members come from a theatrical and performing arts background, with over 6 decades of collective experience.  Former opera star, bass-baritone Hans van Heerden is the choir master and all songs will be accompanied by backtracks.
