Joburg Promusica announces the August Mama Said Session at the Basement Theatre on Sunday 26 August 2012

Sondelani bafazi, sondelani ……… the streetqueen has decided to celebrate Woman’s month by dishing up two delectable male singers for Sunday lunch! Yep, this one is for the sista’s!

 

South Africa’s soul-man Kabomo is our bhuti for the occasion while drummer, vocalist, percussionist, guitarist, songwriter and producer with a string of multi-platinum albums to his name,

the inimitable Ringo Madlingozi takes on the role of malume.

Kabomo and Ringo will give guidance on how to survive in the music industry, will go in conversation with the audience and, above all, inspire and motivate the upcoming artistic generation.

 

The Mama Said Sessions are a mixed masala brewed by Ntsiki Mazwai; they provide a soulful, funky and safe environment where young artists can showcase their talent and leading artists

share their knowledge.

Another ingredient of the Streetqueen’s special brew is the open mic session where all can strut their stuff backed by the live house band while the DJ is on duty to liven things up.

We are calling on fresh, home-grown talent, musicians, poets, writers, visual artists, film makers, dancers, actors, comedians and anyone who would like to be inspired on a Sunday afternoon

Mama Said has hosted the likes of Dorothy Masuka, Thandiswa Mazwai, Lilian Dube, Nomsa Manaka, Sibongile Khumalo, Pops Mohammed and Wanda Baloyi in the previous editions.
